If a company鈥檚 employees are motivated they will be more likely to apply themselves.

If workers are motivated they will take a greater pride in their work which will result in a higher quality product or service.

Employees who are motivated will be less likely to leave the company which means less time and money will be spent on recruiting and retraining new staff.

It is the role of the manager to ensure that employees within the organisation are motivated. There are several methods a manager can use to achieve this. These can be divided into:

  • financial methods
  • non-financial methods
Methods of motivation can be divided into financial (profit share, salary, bonus) and non-financial methods (promotion, fringe benefits e.g. company car, staff training)
