Retaining and motivating staff
It is important that staff stay motivated at work. Motivated staff will lead to:
- increased productivityThe output of employees over a specific period of time.
- lower absenteeism
- higher quality production
- lower staff turnoverThe number of workers who leave an organisation and are replaced within a specific timeframe.
- better reputation
If a company鈥檚 employees are motivated they will be more likely to apply themselves.
If workers are motivated they will take a greater pride in their work which will result in a higher quality product or service.
Employees who are motivated will be less likely to leave the company which means less time and money will be spent on recruiting and retraining new staff.
It is the role of the manager to ensure that employees within the organisation are motivated. There are several methods a manager can use to achieve this. These can be divided into:
- financial methods
- non-financial methods
