Higher PE - Physical scenario
Let's take a look at a scenario for physical factors. In this example, information is provided in the form of a graph.
Scenario
Below is the progress a Higher PE pupil made during their physical development plan.
Q) Where the Y axis = level of development and the X axis = length of time in weeks, explain reasons why this pupil may have observed the following trend in their development plan. Your answers must refer to physical factors. (4).
Applying the technique
- Read the question(s) first:
- your answers must refer to the physical factor.
- you must relate your answers to performance development (training).
- you must show cause and effect for each explanation you provide.
- Now look at the line graph and observe some of the key points in the trend.
Week(s) | Key point |
Weeks 1-3 | The pupil makes very good progress during their development plan. |
Week 4 | They have hit a plateau. |
Week 5 | Their physical capabilities have decreased. |
Weeks 6 and 7 | The pupils make progress yet again. |
Week(s) | Weeks 1-3 |
---|---|
Key point | The pupil makes very good progress during their development plan. |
Week(s) | Week 4 |
---|---|
Key point | They have hit a plateau. |
Week(s) | Week 5 |
---|---|
Key point | Their physical capabilities have decreased. |
Week(s) | Weeks 6 and 7 |
---|---|
Key point | The pupils make progress yet again. |
Your job is to give reasons why this may have happened. Consider aspects of key planning information, which is used to help devise and implement a development plan.
Now use 2. as a checklist and write out your answer whilst remembering what the question is asking of you in 1.
