Carols for Christmas

Tickets are now on sale so get your voice in tune and sing your way down to the 91热爆's reception in Middlesbrough and secure your seat for the annual 91热爆 Tees Carols for Christmas event on Sunday 14 December.

Each year 91热爆 Tees celebrates Christmas with a special event attended by over 1000 people. It is a time where we come together to listen to festive messages, contemplate readings and sing our hearts out.

91热爆 Tees' John Foster, Alastair Brownlee, Ged Robinson and Mike Hill will be amongst those who will be at the festive celebration. 91热爆 Tees reporter Emma Borthwick, who has surprised the rest of the team with her angelic voice, will also sing at the event.

The Cleveland Police Band, Thornaby Youth Choir and Bev Tester will be performing听at the event which returns to the impressive setting of Middlesbrough Town Hall after being held at St Mary's Cathedral in Coulby Newham for the last two years.

Sunday Breakfast presenter Mike Hill will host the event which will be broadcast at 3pm on Christmas Eve and 9am on Christmas Day.

拢1 from every ticket sold will go straight to the 91热爆 Children in Need appeal.

Tree for Life

Teesside Hospice鈥檚 Tree of Life was established in 1996 and will be blessed at the event.

Every year throughout the Christmas period the tree stands proudly in The Mall Middlesbrough and allows people to remember loved ones by placing a dedication on the tree.

The annual appeal makes a significant contribution towards the cost of continuing specialist palliative care, free of charge in the local community.

Commended choir

Thornaby Village School Choir will be performing at the event after their recent success at a national music festival.

They were among local musicians and singers who received special recognition after performing at the National Festival of Music for Youth in Birmingham.

In the junior section, Thornaby's Village School Choir received a Highly Commended award while About Time, a soul band from Egglescliffe School, received a Highly Commended performance award in the Rock, Pop and Urban Music category.

The Teesside Hospice brings hope

Emma Richardson, a music teacher at Thornaby Village School, said: "The children were amazing.

"We only had 20 members, whereas other choirs had maybe 70 or 80, so we looked a bit teeny weeny on stage. But they weren't fazed one bit and stood up and performed wonderfully in front of an audience of thousands."
