A very disappointing night for Manchester United - and a night that Istanbul Basaksehir and PSG players walked off the pitch as the game was abandoned amid racism allegations.

Lionel Messi had all seven of Barcelona’s shots on target in that match.

Since 2003-04, it’s the most shots on target a player has had in a single Champions League match without scoring.

His 11 shots in total was his most in a game without scoring in the competition.

Things not going so well for Barcelona. They are ninth in La Liga, three points above the relegation zone, and have not topped a Champions League group for the first time since 2006

United had more possession, more shots and more shots on target.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about the comments of Paul Pogba's agent Mino Raiola in the aftermath of his side's defeat by RB Leipzig.

It's fair to assume he is not happy.

"The squad is fine," he said. "They are a team and they stick together. As soon as Paul’s agent realises it is a team sport the better. I don’t want to spend energy on that. I am not going to talk about Paul’s agent any more."

I think there is an awful narrative – the minute United lose a game it seems a disaster. It’s not a disaster, it’s a disappointment.

There are United teams in the past with better managers than Ole Gunnar Solksjaer that have gone out at this stage - it does happen. There are managers in the Premier League that are below United in the league that don’t get the same stick that Ole gets.

Ole tends to produce a performance in big moments, Saturday [against Manchester City] is that big moment for the manager and players but ultimately they are now in the Europa League and they have to go and win that.

The narrative inside the club is far different from outside where there seems to be a total witch hunt to get this boy out of a job.

Prediction - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does talk about Paul Pogba's agent again.

OGS on Paul Pogba: "The squad is fine, they're a team, they stick together.

"As soon as Paul's agent realises this is a team sport and we work together the better and that's maybe the last thing I'll say on that.

"What we speak about in the background is something... I'm not going to talk about Paul's agent anymore."

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has just been speaking in his news conference.

"We didn't perform as a team well enough and that's always the manager's responsibility, to get everyone ready," he said.

"We knew they were going to come at us, we knew they were going to put crosses in the box and unfortunately we conceded two goals and never got going."

This is Manchester United's first Champions League group stage exit since 2015-16 under Louis van Gaal.

They were in with PSV, CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg that season.

Admittedly in two of the seasons since then they haven't even reached the Champions League.

Dave Payn: In this year with this club, you wouldn't bet against Man U thumping City at the weekend.

Michael Tennekoon: Cue the over reaction and obnoxious Ole out crowd. We lost two games against last year's finalist and semi finalists. Progress takes time. We can't live in a world where after every loss it's Ole out. Good grief.

Manchester United fans, your draw - for the Europa League last 32 - is on the same day at the same venue. That's at 12:00 GMT.

Arsenal, Leicester and Spurs are also in that.

The draw for the last 16 will take place on Monday, 14 December at Uefa's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Teams finishing top of their group will face a team finishing second in a different group, with clubs unable to face a side they met in the group stage.

Teams from the same country cannot be drawn against each other until the quarter-finals, the draw for which takes place on 19 March.

The last-16 ties are two-legged and are due to take place on 16/17 and 23/24 February, and 9/10 and 16/17 March.

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard speaking to BT Sport: "Billy Gilmour was very good on his first start this season as was Tino Anjorin. I'm very pleased. We wanted to win but that wasn't to be.

"I liked the discipline of the team - they had some counter attacking moments but nothing big."

On whether Billy Gilmour will stay or go on loan: "Not sure. The way he trains and plays I can see him with us. I have to make sure the pathway is right.

"Everyone was pretty good. There weren't outstanding performances but I asked the lads to be professional and they were.

"I don't think we can over-analyse the group stage - we've won the group and it's good progression."
