Tommy Rowe's second-half header secured promotion to League One for Doncaster Rovers in front of their own fans at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Doncaster boss Darren Ferguson: "This is the perfect day for us to get promoted, to do it in front of our own fans is exactly what we wanted.

"After last year, it's our chance to celebrate now and we'll enjoy tonight.

"We're determined to show that we are the best team in this league. We've ticked the first box, now we want to win our last five games and win the league title."

Wednesday's Ross Wallace is now down hurt, receiving treatment, after a 50-50 challenge with Mo Diame.

He hobbles off to the sideline, but he'll carry on.

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Newcastle

To recap, Sheffield Wednesday should be at least one goal up, and they could be three goals up.

But they could also easily have had Barry Bannan sent off for a poor, poor tackle on Matt Ritchie, which saw him get only a yellow card.

    An interesting first half hour.

Jonjo Shelvey tries his luck from way, way out, from a free-kick, and it takes a slight deflection on it's way through, but Keiren Westwood it there with a comfortable save.

  7. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 25 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Newcastle

The hosts want a penalty as Jack Hunt gets in behind and goes over under the challenge of Yoan Gouffran.

It would have been a soft one, but there was definitely contact.

Midfielder Barry Bannan has a go from range but his effort goes wide. Wednesday are very much on top.

How are Sheffield Wednesday not winning this game?

This time Gary Hooper battles to win the ball on the right byline. He squares it into the six-yard box and Steven Fletcher is there to slide in and surely turn home?

No. Karl Darlow somehow keeps it out. Fine keeping!

Wes Hoolahan and Alex Pritchard both scored twice as Norwich bounced back from two consecutive defeats to thrash promotion-chasing Reading at Carrow Road.

Norwich caretaker boss Alan Irvine: "I think it's the best performance of the season given the quality of the opposition. It could have been more.

"I said there needed to be a response after Huddersfield and full credit to the players. They took a lot of criticism

"I'm happy to do what the club wants me to do and I'll do that to the best of my ability. It's an honour to be doing this."

Newcastle's Matt Ritchie is receiving treatment. He looks like he'll carry on. But that must have hurt.

  12. YELLOW CARD (Bannan)published at 19 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Newcastle

Ouch. Wednesday's Barry Bannan goes in late with studs on Matt Ritchie. It's a booking. It could easily have been a red.

Down the other end, Newcastle blast wide from range through Ayoze Perez. Ambitious - but wide.

  14. CLOSE!published at 17 mins

Another big chance for the hosts! Steven Fletcher fires wide after a lovely team move.

He was teed up perfectly by Gary Hooper, after Barry Bannan's chipped ball through.

Jonjo Shelvey gets towards the byline and sends in a low ball across the box but Owls keeper Keiren Westwood is there to claim it.

The Magpies have seen most of the ball so far, but are yet to carve out an opening.

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Newcastle

It is pretty hard to overstate how big a game this is for both sides.

Sheffield Wednesday will be very mindful that, as well as their play-off rivals Fulham being in form, Derby are also creeping up behind them, with three wins in a row under Gary Rowett.

A win for Newcastle would see themselves open up a 13-point gap over third-placed Huddersfield, who would have just six games left.

  18. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Newcastle

The Newcastle fans, as you'd expect, are making a fair old racking behind the goal that their side are defending in this first half.

A Sheffield Wednesday win, by the way, would see them claim their first league double over the Magpies for all of 30 years.

No chances to tell you about since Gary Hooper hit the bar on three minutes.
