No ideas about carpet stores, HL, but look forward to reading your blog from Skye! Good luck with the move.

Thanks everybody! What a thrill....my name in lights! (well on the beeb at least, and that's good enough for me!) Seriously though folks - pass the word on, ask your pals - Desperately Seeking Carpets, Portree!! Looking forward to getting up there. Mostly Harmless, eh? Well, "I can see a lot of Ground....I Wonder If It'll Be My Friennnnnnndddddd"...ouch :o)
Hope Later from not there yet!

Carpets? Why bother with carpets? What's wrong with dry stone floors? What will you want next? Electricity? Water on tap? Dear L*rd: a welcome?! Hope lives (should that be "leaves"?) eternal. # FC visited Skye (or was it Mull?) last year, and had tales to tell, did you not, old puss? The local tourist board no longer answers his calls.

Flying Cat from soothin a fevered broo
Er, flying cat - whassa matter with Portree??
Hope Later from still not there yet!
HL, suggest you try to get a copy of the West Highland Free Press, it covers the islands and carries advertising. Most of the larger bookstores (whats another word for edges????) carry a large range of these types of newspapers.
Mia from purrondering at the pc
HL: why bother withe carpets? why now put down wooden floors-easier to keep clean and healthier too! FC,with me its not"don't mention portree" but don't mention dunvegan!
carol from over here
There used to be a carpet shop next to the royal bank of scotland. Don,t know if it is still there. Good Luck.
Carole from Merseyside
I tried to respond to "whassa matter with Portree?" but its gorn gorn and nevva called me muvva...if you can be bothered Hope Later, see Flying Cat July 2006...I think. It's not the whole of Portree by any means...but Broadford was definitely another country! Carol, what's wrong with Dunvegan???
Flying Cat from ancient blog archives and all agog
I think the nearest carpet place will be Inverness (perhaps dingwall). Though I would suggest wooden floors or lino as its so wet and muddy here carpets will get filthy really quickly.
Over the Sea to Sunny Skye from Skye
I've twice tried to answer the question 'Whassa matter with Portree?" I retire defeated. For once...
Flying Cat from remembering July 2006
Nah, Hope Now, you don't want to hear about Portree....# Now, let me tell you all about Dunvegan ...
