Off Again!

The year 2006 has left the starting post, and may I therfore, wish all you good bloggers, A Happy New Year, and may this one be somewhat pleasanter than the last, when so much focused on natural disasters and terrorisim, and war and the results of it, also, don't seem to be far away.I can't help thinking that since the terrifying 9-11 incident in America there seems to have been a downward trend in the stability of the world.

I wouldn't like to forecast regarding the future, but when I think of Scotland,I would like our new parliament make a genuine impression to the furthest corners of the world.

I believe I am right in saying this ; Scotland as far as renewable energy is concerned has made impressive progress. May we also, in the future, make further advancement in the other aspects of natural energy: wave power; solar energy and the use of biomass to boost our clean energy requirements..

I have made it clear in the past that I support wind turbines, but at the same time I wouldn't advocate over devolepment in this direction.

And might I end with this passing thought, I'm still not satisfied with the tought of a new phase of nuclear power stations being developed and brought into production.

You could not live on Tiree and not be in support of wind turbines. Wind and Tiree are synonymous. The 'sunshine isle' could no doubt power half of scotland's energy needs if only both were harnessed. Happy new year to all in beautiful Tiree!

Tiree enthusiast from The "lowlands" Delighted with your comment.Ido support wind turbines, but it would be so easy to swamp such a small island. Strangely enough, it looks as if we are going to have one turbine on the island as this is all the power the mainland connection can take- is that not a bit ludicirous considering your reference to wind and vast generating potential. "Sunshine Island", sadly, just on occasion now, that is part of the reason why I accept about all about climate change. All the same, yes, beautiful Tiree, although, at this time of year a little imigination is helpfull. I'd be pleased if would reply to this comment as I am not sure that I have name and location as they should be. I hardly think it should be your name. I'll keep the blog a little longer to hear from you.

Happy New Year Island Wanderer. I hear what you are saying regarding your conserns for climate change and protecting the environment as we keep going over the same stuff time after time. Perhaps I could introduce a new topic connected with protecting the environment. Might we discuss the Marine National Park that is being proposed for this area, including Tiree. What are your thoughts on that? Good or bad?
