From its sheltered rocky seaside cove, Combe Martin runs for some two miles up a sheltered valley on the North Devon coast. It used to be two villages, Seaside and Head Town. Seasiders tell the story that the clock on the church tower pointing up towards Head Town is a waste of space because Head Towners are so dim that they can't tell the time. Who knows what stories Head Towners tell about Seasiders! And this Land Lines puzzle is all about stories.
The Land Lines team visited Combe Martin on the late May bank holiday when the street was full of the drumming and dancing of an ancient festival.
The challenge:
Find stories of comings and goings in the landscape around Combe Martin.

The landscape detectives in this programme are folklorist, Jennifer Westwood and ecologist, Paul Evans.
