Bamburgh was a hugely important royal city in medieval times, although today it is just a modest-sized village. What stands out, though, is the truly enormous castle on its great rocky outcrop that separates the village from the sweeping sandy beach, the North Sea, and the Farne Isles a few miles offshore. This Land Lines puzzle is about the links between the local legend of a fearsome dragon - the story of the Laidley Worm - and the history of the castle.
The challenge:
Follow the lines that link a hero's return to the tides of trade; a battlement to a battleground; and a well-kept secret to a fitting end.
