Miriam Albano

Mezzo soprano from Italy - 26 years old

Miriam was born into a musical family, and began studying as a violinist with her father at the Conservatory Benedetto Marcello in Venice. At the age of 16, she began formal voice training with Stella Silva at the same conservatory. In 2012, Miriam enrolled at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna under Claudia Visca, and is studying art song and oratorio with Charles Spencer and Brigitte Fassbaender.

Miriam is now an ensemble member with the Vienna State Opera, where she made her debut as Annio in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito and this October will make her role debut as Cherubino in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. She has appeared in performances at the Salzburg Festival, the Ancient Music Festival in Innsbruck, the Galuppi Festival in Venice, the Eppaner Festival in South Tyrol, the Gstaad New Year Music Festival, the Potsdam Sanssouci festival in Germany and the International Lieder Festival Zeist in the Netherlands. She’s no stranger to the competition scene, and has won prizes in the Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition in Barcelona (2016), the Ada Sari International Competition in Poland (2015), and the Neue Stimmen Competition in Germany (2015).
