Roberto Lorenzi

Bass baritone from Italy - 27 years old

Roberto is a graduate of the Luigi Boccherini Institute of Musical Studies in Lucca, Italy and made his La Scala debut aged 22 in Zeffirelli’s acclaimed production of La bohème, alongside an all-star cast including Anna Netrebko and Angela Gheorghiu. He now studies with the famous American singing teacher, Sherman Lowe.

In 2013 Roberto took part in the Salzburg Festival Young Singers project and subsequently joined Opernhaus Zürich where he’s currently a member of the ensemble. His roles in Zürich include Lorenzo, [I Capuleti e i Montecchi], La Vengeance, [Medée], Montano, [Otello] and Caronte, [Orlando Paladino].

Last season he made his debut at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam as Priore. In Zürich he was Don Prudenzio in a new production of Viaggio a Reims, Le Gouverneur in Le Comte Ory alongside Cecilia Bartoli; Zuniga in Carmen and Publio in La clemenza di Tito. This season he made his debut with Opéra de Lille as Alidoro in La Cenerentola.

Roberto won first prize in the AsLico competition for young singers in Europe, winning the role of Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia in a special production in Lombardy.
