Stones that ‘weep’ the name of the dead
Palimpsest is Doris Salcedo’s latest work, remembering those who have died in Europe’s ongoing migrant crisis. Their names are written on specially crafted stone, some in sand, others in water droplets that emerge out of the stone as if the earth is weeping the names of the dead. Palimpsest is at the Palacio de Cristal in Madrid’s Retiro Park until April 2018.
