Dog Owners v. Cricket Club At Higham Ferrers
Dog walkers unhappy at a new dogs on leads order that came into force in February on Saffron Road Recreation Ground. It's used by Higham Ferrers Cricket Club who complained of persistent dog fouling.
The row between dog owners and a cricket club in Higham Ferrers has escalated.
The dog walkers aren't happy at a new "dogs on leads" order that came into force in February on Saffron Road Recreation Ground.
It's a public park but it's used by Higham Ferrers Cricket Club as its ground.
They complained of persistent dog fouling which led to the local council bringing in the order. Now though, the differences between the two parties has widened.
On Saturday the cricket club say their match was disrupted by a large group of dog walkers walking around the square and making it impossible to play.
Stuart talks to Brian Behagg from the cricket club and to Councillor Derek Lawson from Higham Ferrers Town Council, who is also a County Councillor for the area.
The dog owners refused to talk to Stuart for previously suggesting that dogs should be kept on a lead in a public park but one of the dog walkers, Nikki Johnson, talks to reporter Tom Percival who also hears from the cricket club chairman Toby Webbley.
