Deer in the mist
Mike Dilger has to whisper because he's watching roe deer. Dawn is the best time for seeing them, but they are incredibly sensitive to human presence. The best technique is to use hedges as cover and look over or through them into the wide open areas where they feed. Mike spots a buck and two does. Males look cracking at this time of year with their antlers in the best possible shape for the upcoming rut. Males try to gather as many females as possible into their territory. Suddenly another buck appears, and the first is not happy - he chases the younger buck right across the field. The buck finally spots Mike and bounds off.
