Stuart revisits the smooth and uplifting tropicalia record Cantiga De Longe from 1970. The Brazillian guitarist and singer was part of a short-lived but vital Brazillian collective art movement that emerged in the late 1960鈥檚 in response to the oppressive military dictatorship in power at the time. Tropicalia blended Brazilian genres like pop and avant garde music with traditional elements however, the release of Edu Lobo鈥檚 vibrant record marked uncharted territory with its own unique genre combination. Afro-Brazilian music of the North East of Brazil and the experimentation of tropicalia come together with the sway of bossanova and hints of ambient jazz in a sophisticated and joyful medley.
