Nicole's disappearance causes tensions in the Brodie family to grow. Gina is horrified when the Oyster is vandalised, but Murray sees it as an opportunity to show his caring side.
Murray wakes up cramped having spent the night in his car. Raymond invites him up for a shower and breakfast much to Eileen's disgust. However Gina arrives having discovered that the glass door of the Oyster has been smashed. Murray springs into action and takes charge. He calls the police and helps Gina clean up. When the police arrive they presume it's vandalism and when Gabriel enters with Conor and Adeeb, Gina mistakes their upset over Nicole for guilt. She reluctantly tells the police about her run-in with the boys the night before. Back at the Tall Ship, Raymond goes to show the police his CCTV footage to try and figure out what happened to the Oyster but he realises that no-one changed the DVD so they didn't record it. When the police arrive to talk to the boys about the vandalism, Leyla panics and tells the police they were in all evening. However privately with Gabriel she shares her concerns that the boys acted out and are hurting more than she realises. Gabriel offers to have a word with them. However Gina and Murray intercept them. A sympathetic Gina is quick to tell the boys that she won't press charges. Gabriel is relieved but the boys are frustrated that no-one believes them - they didn't do it! When Gina witnesses Murray's kindness to Leyla at the press conference she becomes increasingly impressed with him and starts to reconsider her break up with him. In the Tall Ship flat, Raymond accidentally knocks over Murray's bag but is horrified to find the CCTV DVD showing Murray smashing the Oyster door! Raymond confronts Murray and convinces him to tell Gina. However before he can admit what he's done, a furious Eileen interrupts them. She's come across the DVD and tells everyone the truth about Murray. Gina is horrified and turns her back on him. A passing Gabriel overhears the commotion and furiously tries to punch Murray. A defeated Murray decides to leave town for a bit packs up his car, however Raymond can't let him go alone and agrees to come with him on a boys fishing trip.
It's the early hours of the morning and Leyla has been unable to sleep. She heads downstairs exhausted. She hears a key in the door and hopes it's Nicole - but it's just Conor and Adeeb. They stayed out all night looking for Nicole. Leyla agrees not to tell Michael, it will only upset him. Later Michael snaps at the boys as they try to Facebook Nicole's friends, and Gabriel has to calm him down. DC Grant arrives and introduces their Family Liaison Officer, Brenda Lloyd. Brenda talks Leyla through the press conference that will be happening that afternoon. Michael is short tempered throughout the day and at the press conference fails to support Leyla when she breaks down. However both Michael and Leyla give heartbreaking pleas to Nicole at the press conference. Afterwards though Michael is distraught to learn that Nicole might not want to be found. Back at the house, someone plays a cruel trick on Michael and Leyla when they get a hoax call they at first think is Nicole. Michael can't handle it and leaves Leyla alone to head to the surgery. Dan manages to get Michael to open up and he breaks down as he tells his friend his fears - Michael thinks Nicole has run away because of him. That evening, the whole of Sheildinch sits down to watch the evening news as Jackie Bird reports on Nicole's disappearance.
At Liz's a delighted Kelly-Marie is invited out for dinner with Dan. However Dan is quick to tell Liz that he's taking things slowly, he's only just out of his marriage. However later Liz overhears Iona talking up Kelly-Marie's date. She urges caution - Dan doesn't want anything serious so Iona better not get Kelly-Marie's hopes up. Unfortunately Tatiana overhears this exchange and tells Big Bob and Molly, who tell Scarlett. However through Chinese whispers things have become distorted and a furious Scarlett confronts Dan asking him why he hates her grandson! Dan tries to talk to Kelly-Marie but the O'Haras and Mullens close ranks. Kelly-Marie decides to speak to Dan and she realises how silly they've all been. Dan decides to show that he is serious about Kelly-Marie and removes his wedding ring. They decide to go the Tall Ship that evening and take it from there.
