Malcolm entrusts Eileen with a difficult secret, but what affect will it have on her tenuous relationship with Gina? Will a mix-up over Malcolm's watch lead Stevie to a relapse?
Eileen and Gina are still at loggerheads following the mouse debacle and slanging match on Hogmanay, but Eileen is upset that a forgetful Malcolm appears to have taken Gina's side as usual. Eileen witnesses Stevie return Malcolm's wallet after he drops it outside the Deli and Malcolm offers him some handyman work as a reward, but later, Malcolm is confused when Dan reminds him he needn't have gone for the morning papers and milk. However, Malcolm is getting his plaster cast removed today and purposeful, surprises Gina with 5000 pounds to help with the building work at the Oyster (the mouse infestation has revealed some nasty subsidence). Meanwhile, Stevie and Nicole capture a moment in Malcolm and Liz's front room, but when Malcolm realises he's lost his watch Liz slowly begins to suspect a flustered Stevie. Eileen tries to build bridges with Gina, but when it's thrown back in her face Eileen decides to go to war and sends Charlie off to drum up more trade for her newly installed coffee machine in the Ship. Liz confronts Stevie in the pub and Michael is soon agreeing with her, but while Eileen publicly defends him, Stevie reckons they can all shove it. Alone with Malcolm, Eileen is perturbed to discover he has been suffering blackouts and is increasingly forgetful, but her heart goes out to him as she finds him raking through the bins where he finds his watch. Despite her concerns, Eileen agrees to keep his mental health fears to herself, but Gina mistakes her concerns over the 5000 pounds as jealousy. Eileen is further alienated from those closest to her when Liz too has a subtle dig about Eileen minding her own business. Hoping to avoid any more confusion, Malcolm conveniently places his watch in the living room, but Liz is aghast when she finds it and rushes to apologize to Stevie... only Stevie's had another run-in with Michael and is nowhere to be found. At the Ship, Gina and Eileen are going at it hammer and tongs (Gina is agog her own sister is selling coffees under her nose), but they're brought to their sense when a shaky Malcolm yells at them in the pub. Mortified, Malcolm heads off and whilst Eileen tries once again to bury the hatchet, Gina coolly warns her that they'll be civil when Malcolm's around, but when he's not, the gloves are off. Alone with Malcolm and with a heavy heart, Eileen reluctantly agrees to carry his secret until the time comes he can no longer cope on his own.
Stevie starts the day on a high when he happily returns Malcolm's wallet in the street and is offered a paid DIY job in return, but while Liz is a little wary (bearing in mind Stevie's involvement with guns), Dan is supportive. However, Stevie has other plans and invites Nicole round. Nicole has a spot of bother with Cammy, an old druggie pal of Stevie's, but Stevie is quick to tell Cammy where to go. At Malcolm's, Nicole leaves just before Liz returns and Liz notices Stevie's slightly panicked state. It's only when Malcolm's watch goes missing that she begins to suspect him. Michael doesn't waste much time getting on Liz's band wagon and despite Eileen sticking up for him Stevie does look guilty as he can't reveal he was with Nicole. Michael reveals his concerns to Nicole - Stevie is a recovering addict and all too often addicts fail. Feeling hard done by Stevie decides to leave town and whilst Dan tries to stop him, Stevie is heartbroken when he finds Nicole rummaging in his bag for Malcolm's watch. As Raymond tries frantically to find him, Stevie makes the mistake of seeking out Cammy and his old pal is only too happy to supply him with drugs. As Nicole finally tracks Stevie down, he has to hide his stoned eyes from her and whilst he agrees to stick around - it could be the first step on the road to ruin for Stevie.
Big Bob is back, but he's still a million miles away from Tatiana and despite Christina trying her best to play happy families, he's still struggling to forgive and forget all that's happened. It's only when Molly tells him to shape up or ship out that he calls crisis talks with Tattie. Tattie isn't sure if he's going to end things for good, but slowly all the pain and resentment over her affair and the dead baby comes flooding out. Tattie takes as much as she can before finally revealing that Big Bob isn't entirely without sin himself - she knows about his kiss with Iona on the eve of their wedding. Big Bob is gobsmacked, but it's the spur they need and as they head off to the Garden of Remembrance to properly mourn for her dead baby there's the chance of a new chapter in their relationship developing.
