Lydia returns to try and help her daughter, but is she too late? What will a suspicious Gabriel do now? Scarlett wrestles with her pride as Jimmy's life hangs in the balance.
It's the aftermath of McCabe's shooting. McCabe lies dead and it's Amber who is holding the smoking gun. Amber wants to call an ambulance but Lenny quickly takes control. McCabe's dead and they need to deal with it. Lenny's plan is to frame Fraser so gets him out of the way by sending him with Amber to get cleaned up. Outside the flat, Fraser panics, there's someone up there. Worried it's one of McCabe's henchmen, Amber and Fraser are shocked and relieved to see it's Lydia. Lydia reveals that Lenny had been in touch saying that Amber would need her. She can tell something is wrong but isn't prepared for the truth - Amber has shot and killed a man. Lydia plans to take Amber out of the country but Amber will not leave without Lenny. Amber tells Lydia about Lenny's MS and says he needs his family more now than ever. Lydia suggests that perhaps they could all leave together to start a new life. Amber agrees and so does Lenny - it's a plan.
Gabriel knows something is afoot in the arcade and sets about his own investigation. Amber tries to distract him by seducing him but Gabriel can see she is not acting like herself. She tells him if he really cares about her then he'll leave things well alone. Still not satisfied about what's going on, Gabriel turns his attention to Fraser. He forces his way into Murray and Gina's flat and threatens Fraser who eventually confesses that Amber shot McCabe.
Just when it starts to look like everything might go to plan, Lenny discovers that Fraser has done a bunk and Amber finds out that Lydia has been lying, she already has a boyfriend and a new life elsewhere, she had no intention of reuniting the Murdoch family. Worse still, Amber then discovers the gun Lenny planted in Fraser's jacket in the Heavenly Herbals van. It's too many lies for Amber to cope with while also struggling to deal with her guilt. Amber calls the police and, despite Lenny's protestations, she confesses to shooting McCabe and is taken away.
Meanwhile, Scarlett is furious to discover that Jimmy has left Madonna in the care of Adeeb and Conor. When DI Donald tells her that Jimmy has been taken to hospital she doesn't believe him. In fact she makes it quite clear that she wants nothing more to do with Jimmy Mullen. She starts chucking out anything to do with Jimmy, including her wedding ring, but is interrupted by a call from the hospital. Scarlett rushes to Jimmy's side but not to be with him, to tell him he has brought this on himself. A sudden complication means that Jimmy's condition deteriorates. This brings everything home to Scarlett and she flees the hospital, terrified of hearing the news that Jimmy will die. Scarlett rues her behaviour but Gina brings good news. Jimmy is stable. With utter relief, Scarlett returns to the hospital to be by his bedside. She still loves Jimmy and facing the possibility of losing him has made her realise this.
