Zinnie's plans to leave town are thwarted by Michael, and Gina helps a depressed Fraser regain control of his life. Meanwhile Robbie is forced to choose between Hayley and Deek.
Zinnie discovers that the money for university her parents promised her has been transferred to Michael who will be in charge of it. Zinnie is furious, it ruins her plans to take the money and go travelling round the world. She cosies up to Michael and through flattery and manipulation manages to convince him to transfer her 4,000 pounds for her accommodation fees. Michael is pleased Zinnie seems to have a focus in her life, but Leyla is dubious. Her fears are confirmed when Michael discovers Zinnie has withdrawn from University and finds her booking a flight to Bangkok. He demands she returns the money to his account. Unbeknownst to him Nicole witnesses the end of their argument and sly Zinnie turns on the tears. With Michael gone Zinnie reaches out to Nicole artfully deceiving the vulnerable teen and convincing her to help convince Michael to give her the money back. Nicole arranges to meet Michael at the surgery but he is shocked when Zinnie walks into his office with her. Whilst Nicole tries to convince Michael that Zinnie has been misunderstood Zinnie spots Michael's wallet and swipes it. Nicole is shocked but doesn't know what to do. When Michael admits he's proud of Nicole and how she's coped with the past year she feels a prick of guilt for deceiving him. Later when she finds Zinnie packing she realises that she has been tricked and calls her dad. Meanwhile Michael is in the Tall Ship accusing Fraser of stealing his wallet when he receives Nicole's call. He runs home just in time to stop Zinnie leaving for good. After a shouting match in the street, Leyla demands that they all go inside and tell her what's going on. She's shocked to discover that Zinnie stole Michael's wallet and tells an unrepentant Zinnie that she has a week to find a new place to live - she's just blown her last chance with the Brodie family.
Elsewhere, Fraser is still in the doldrums following his split with Amber. Murray tries the tough love approach but its Gina's caring attitude which makes him realise something has to change. Fraser attempts to see Michael in the health centre about his depression but soon changes his mind, and decides he needs to start helping himself. He spruces himself up and visits Amber at Hola, it's going well until Lenny interrupts them and furiously throws Fraser out onto the street. Fraser is down, but another pep talk and some help from Gina leads him to buy an engagement ring. However before he can propose to Amber, he comes across Lenny who, guessing his intentions, threatens to hurt him unless he stays away. Angry and desperate to get Lenny out of the picture Fraser turns to DI Donald and makes a statement claiming it was Lenny and not McCabe who was running the counterfeit money ring. Returning to Sheildinch victorious Fraser celebrates with Gina in the Tall Ship, until a suspicious Michael accuses him of stealing his wallet. Gina leaps to his defence, she leant him the money to buy the ring. Later that evening Fraser leaves the pub happy and content, only to find Lenny Murdoch waiting for him. He tells Fraser that his statement won't put him in the jail, but it will get McCabe out - now they're all in danger!
Deek and Robbie are excited about the pub quiz they've been preparing for. However, Hayley is jealous of her best friend's new pal and tries to imply that Robbie has become old before his time. Her jibes get to him and so he pulls out of the quiz to go into town with Hayley, Annie, Charlie and Stella. With an officious Murray replacing Robbie in the team, Deek is having a terrible time and is missing his pal. However Robbie is also missing Deek, and despite trying to be the life and soul of the party realises that his place is with his friend on the quiz team. He tells Hayley he has room in his life for more than one pal and heads off to the Ship, just in time to help the team win the quiz!
