Politicians in the United States continue to bicker over how to cut the deficit and UK companies paid out the highest level of dividends since the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

The US Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner, has warned that failure is not an option, as politicians in the United States continue to bicker over how to cut the deficit. They've got just eight days to reach a deal.

UK companies paid out the highest level of dividends since the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

A new report says the government should stop passing new laws on how much leave parents receive on the birth of a new baby, and instead let managers and staff agree deals that are best for both.
