Some economists are predicting the UK economy may have shrunk ahead of secnod quarter results and BP's figures are a year after the Gulf of Mexico oil spill caused an 拢11m loss.

The health of the UK economy will become clearer later today with the release of second quarter figures. The Chancellor George Osborne insists the government's approach is the right one, but some economists are predicting that the economy may have shrunk.

BP's quarterly figures are out exactly a year after it suffered the biggest loss in corporate history and bad news for the beer industry as sales slump across the board.
