Nottingham's
UFO investigator Tony James
tells us about Nottingham's biggest ever UFO case.

22nd May 1991 East Midlands UFO Research Association investigators Carole
James, Eddie Fell and myself, were investigating a case of multiple UFO sightings
reported by one family over several years.
This
case had dragged on for about two months and we had met with the family several
times, spending many hours collecting information about their encounters.
After this particular
visit, the three of us went to a nearby pub to discuss their experiences and to
figure out how to close this case.
Little did we know, but at the time,
hundreds of people in Nottingham were seeing huge low flying objects in the sky
that no one could identify. 聽

following morning, I received a call from the woman we had seen the night before
who went on to tell us that her husband had seen two UFO鈥檚 while working on his
night shift, the previous night. Having
some doubts about this couples credibility, I accepted the report with reservations
and didn鈥檛 rush to do anything about it. Later that day, I received other reports
describing the same object in different locations over North Nottingham. 聽 I
telephoned the Nottingham Evening Post on Friday 24th and they informed me that
they were running a story through the printers at that moment for the lunchtime
edition of the paper.
As our group had only
been running since August 1990, I left details of our group with the paper and
the receptionist said she would add us to their records for future reference.
By the end of the
day we had received over forty reports. 聽 Later that day, my wife Carole stayed
at home monitoring the phone, while Eddie and myself started our investigation.
We first visited
Jack and Mavis Sargent of Arnold, who during our visit took several phone calls
due to the newspaper article publishing their names.
They took details
for us, which gave us the chance to meet more witnesses.
