Are other beings visiting our
planet, and specifically Nottingham? | |
Nottingham's UFO
investigator Tony James tells
us about Nottingham's biggest ever UFO case. Following a UFO sighting,
EMUFORA found a whole host of witnesses from all over Nottingham.
Arnold
Mr and Mrs
Sargent had just returned home after visiting relatives at about 23:45, when Jack
first noticed the objects.
Jack grabbed a pair of binoculars while Mavis phoned her son only half a mile
away, who was also watching the same strange objects with a group of people on
Surgays Lane. Jack had his binoculars by this time and was watching
with great interest. He told us that the objects were 鈥渟haped like a Vulcan bomber
and about 400 feet long鈥. He
also stated that the objects were 鈥渄efinitely NOT joined together as I could clearly
see the sky between the two, although they were flying very close to each other,
they kept the same distance apart鈥.
"They
gave out a low humming noise, nothing like an aeroplane, the smaller-faster object
was silent." | Jack
Sargent | Jack
also noticed that a smaller but faster object flew behind the two large ones and
none of these were conventional aircraft. 鈥淭hey gave out a low humming
noise, nothing like an aeroplane, the smaller faster object was silent鈥 Jack said.
This turned out to be a typical report. |

Calverton
Calverton, East of Nottinghamshire, was where the UFO鈥檚 were first sighted. At
23:40 Mrs Sylvester of Calverton Village had let her dogs out before going to
bed. As she waited for her dogs, a distant aircraft caught her attention. She
also became aware of four big orange/white spotlights in the shape of a cross.
The lights were so bright; she couldn鈥檛 make out the shape of the object that
they were on. 鈥淭he object(s) must have been very big and about 1000 feet up鈥,
she said.
"The object(s) must have been very big and about 1000 feet up." |
Mrs
Sylvester | She
shouted to her husband, who had just gone to bed, to look out of the window, which
he did. They both watched in amazement as the lights flew towards them,
even the dogs were looking up and barking at the objects. As the objects
passed overhead, they heard a deep humming noise that came from the objects, although
it was very faint. Mrs Sylvester ran to get the binoculars for a closer
look, by the time she returned to the garden, they were in the distance and moving
away slowly. Her sighting had lasted about four minutes and the UFO鈥檚 had come
from the East and heading West. |
Rise
Park At 23:40 Mrs Margaret Challoner of Rise Park, went out into
the garden to call the cat in.
"Looking up into the sky, I saw two large clusters of lights slowly and
steadily coming across the sky from the North East." |
Mrs
Challoner | 鈥淟ooking
up into the sky, I saw two large clusters of lights slowly and steadily coming
across the sky from the N.E. I want to fetch my husband to look at them. He
looked at them through binoculars. They slowly, without deviating in any way and
keeping the same distance apart, crossed the sky towards Wollaton. There
was no engine noise except from a low moaning-droning sound. There were no navigation
lights or flashing lights as there are on a plane鈥. |
Bulwell
Mrs Wooley was out with her dog at around 23:20 when she noticed two very bright
lights side by side, they appeared stationary and rather low. 鈥淚 must stress that
they were very bright and perfectly level with each other and at least four times
larger than a bright star. I stared at them for two or three minutes
as I was trying to figure out what they were. As I watched, they suddenly moved
and literally turned into two triangular shapes with small bright lights all around
them, I remember seeing small green lights among them.
"As
I watched, they suddenly moved and literally turned into two triangular shapes
with small bright lights all around them, I remember seeing small green lights
among them." | Mrs
Wooley | They
started to move away quite fast but they kept the same distance apart, there was
also a low throbbing sound, which I believe was from the objects. Mrs
Wooley also had a brief sighting the night before at about 23:20, Mrs Wooley was
again walking her dog when she noticed a very bright light ahead of her in the
sky. It was quite low and stationary and she watched it for a couple of minutes.
It then seemed to become two lights, one above the other, joined up. I walked
towards it across the field and it just sat there low in the sky. After a short
while, I turned and headed back. A few seconds later I looked back and it had
completely vanished. 听
Ten minutes after Mrs Wooley had her second sighting, Barbara Cuthbert, also of
Highbury Vale was letting the dog out of the back door when; 鈥淚 saw two lights
coming towards me over the top of the trees at the bottom of our garden.
My first thought was that it was a light aircraft with a light on each wing
tip. As I watched, I thought 鈥榠f it comes any lower, it鈥檚 going to crash鈥. I shouted
my husband, but as he was coming to the back door, the lights went smaller.
I moved from the back of the house to the front gate, but by the time I had
walked the 50 feet or so, it had veered off to the right and was much higher in
the sky. The lights had also changed; they looked like two groups of
three lights moving in unison across the sky. There was no sound and I couldn鈥檛
make out any shape, as it was too dark. There were no flashing red or green lights. |
Beeston
Rylands At about 23:45 over Beeston Rylands, Mr David King observed
what at first appeared to be two very bright stars. They seemed to be moving towards
us in a westerly direction keeping a constant distance apart.
"The
objects were moving slowly, about the speed of an airship, were quite low and
keeping a constant distance apart." |
David King |
As
they got nearer and eventually passed over our house, they appeared as two very
bright white lights, together with several smaller multi-coloured lights.
Including green, red, yellow etc; and through binoculars, seemed to be in
the shape of two crosses with the coloured lights along each axis. The
lights did no wink or flash as they would if on a conventional aircraft. The objects
were moving slowly, about the speed of an airship, were quite low and keeping
a constant distance apart. I didn鈥檛 get any impression of shape, but my wife said
that it was shaped like a Concorde. There was no obvious sound as it
approached, but as it passed over and into the distance, a soft 鈥榡et like鈥 sound
was heard. Moving to the front of the house so we could see its departure,
it seemed to disappear as if into cloud, although the sky was clear that night. |
Gedling
Elaine Buck of Gedling got out of bed to close her bedroom window at approximately
23:40 and saw two round lights moving from left to right across the sky. At first,
I thought they were planes but then I realised they were heading for towards me.
I also realised that two planes would not fly so close together. I also
realised that they were travelling relatively slow, so I rushed downstairs so
I could see them from the patio. I said to my husband, 鈥淛ust get outside and look
at these, see what you think鈥. 听
"As the objects came over, we could just make out the shape. I would describe
them as like a Vulcan bomber shape but the back end was so brightly lit up; it
was almost a hazy outline." 听 |
Elaine Buck |
We stood outside
looking up, and at this point, they were almost overhead and we couldn鈥檛 make
out what these lights were. As the objects came over, we could just make out the
shape. I would describe them as like a Vulcan bomber shape but the back end was
so brightly lit up; it was almost a hazy outline. 听 One
of the objects was just off the tail of the other and there seemed to be a hazy
light all around them. They were too low to be planes and they were travelling
very slowly for the height they were at. Also, there was no noise from
them until they were overhead and it didn鈥檛 sound like an engine, just a dull
hum. Elaine鈥檚 husband described them as 鈥楥oncord in shape and massive鈥. |
West
Bridgford Several witnesses in West Bridgeford also reported the
Vulcan bomber and Concord shaped objects. Two of these reports from this area
also mentioned a much smaller object; a silver sphere was also racing across the
sky in the vicinity of the two large craft, and always behind, like it was protecting
or watching the larger ones back鈥檚. This sphere made no noise, unlike the described
sound from the two larger craft. |
