Constituency Profile

This seat contains some of the most affluent suburbs in Cardiff.

It is also home to Wales' biggest hospital, the University Hospital of Wales. A high proportion of residents work in the public sector - 39.6%, which is the highest in Wales. Politically the seat has been a Tory-Labour marginal for the Assembly and Westminster Parliament.

In 2011 the National Assembly seat was won by Labour's Julie Morgan with a swing of 9.8% from the Conservatives' Jonathan Morgan. Plaid Cymru were third with 5.4% of the vote and the Lib Dems had 4.6%.
