Nigel Farage has said UKIP is "absolutely right" not to stop campaigning in the immediate aftermath of the London attack.

The former UKIP leader told : "The Prime Minister said we must not let terrorism affect our lives, it must not stop the democratic process, then in the next sentence she says we're going to suspend campaigning... we have to continue with the democratic process, it's what our country is about."

Liberal Democrat peer Brian Paddick, who was also on the programme, responded that there "[needed] to be a period of respect for the dead... and if you can't stop campaigning for one day to show respect for that we're morally lost".

A source in the Labour party has revealed that Jeremy Corbyn will give a speech in Carlisle tonight.

They said that he will address the London attack and set out Labour's values.

The speech will be "statesmanlike" according to the source, and take place in front of a small audience.

The party has cancelled a rally and will not campaign for the rest of the day.

Michael Territt, who is 40 and from London, was having dinner when he saw people who were stabbed lying on the floor outside.

Saturday evening's attack was captured in hundreds of videos and eyewitness accounts.

From people walking across the bridge to those in restuarants and bars, hundreds of people saw the incident unfold.

Twelve people have been arrested in Barking, east London, in connection with last night's attack, Scotland Yard has said. Searches of a number of addresses in Barking are continuing, the force said.

Four police officers were injured in last night's attack. They included one officer from British Transport Police, who is seriously injured. There are also three Metropolitan Police officers, included one who was an off-duty officer who apprehended one of the attackers and sustained knife injuries. He is is a serious condition.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, , says he has been receiving the condolences of other countries this morning, as well as "offering our condolences to those whose nationals are among the casualties".

He wrote that "today we collectively resolve to beat the terrorists and their nihilistic creed".

The chairman of the Met Police Federation Marsh has confirmed that "some of our police colleagues were among the injured".

"I join all UK police colleagues in wishing them a swift recovery. We are offering them our full support," Ken Marsh said.

The British Transport Police (BTP) has said one of its officers was stabbed in the face as he responded to the attack.

Former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith told the 91�ȱ�'s there should be no question of the election being postponed: "Just imagine what a coup that would be for the terrorists, if they disrupted this nation from going about its lawful democratic business.

"We have faced wars, we have faced attacks and we have to determine our own direction and we have to defend our core values."

Speaking on the 91�ȱ� News Channel afterwards, he argued: "Everybody in Britain must be equal before the law - we cannot make allowances any longer for some communities"

The NSPCC has created a guide to help parents and carers reassure children following the attack in London on Saturday.

The urges adults to:

• Offer reassurance without complicated or worrying explanations
• Help them find advice and support such as Childline on 0800 1111 or at www.childline.org.uk

The Queen attended church in Windsor this morning, where prayers were said for those who lost their lives or were injured in the attack, Buckingham Palace said.

The Prince of Wales also attended church near Highgrove in Gloucestershire.
