The
stunning news follows the recent resignation of managing director
Chris Bird.
 It
is known that the pair have not seen eye to eye over the running
of the club but it had been widely expected that Bernstein would
stay in position at least until the end of the season.
Since taking over as Chairman five years ago, Bernstein has steered
City through some stormy waters, taking the Blues from the brink
of disaster in Division Two back to the big time.
While he's allowed Keegan to spend more than £40m on new players
- the signings of the calibre of Robbie Fowler and Nicolas Anelka
were also brokered by Bernstein - he is generally seen as a prudent
businessman.
The deal to move the club to the brand new City of Manchester stadium,
without having to spend millions on building a new venue, was a
shrewd move indeed.
A City fan all his life, his departure will be seen as huge blow
to fans of the Maine Road club.

As a die hard manchester United fan I can't really comment greatly
on this but as a Mancunian and a supporter of both teams (when they're
not playing each other) I have to say this is a great shame for Manchester
City. I hope they can pull through this.

I cannot believe we are now going down the "I only need another 10m"
road. As much as I have enjoyed the Keegan brand of football. I am
unsure what leagcy Keegan will leave the clubs. The danger is that
when the money runs out and Keegan walks, then the players who have
been attracted to the club walk as well. I can see this all ending
in tears, with the chant 'Lets all laugh at city' ringing in my ears
from opposition fans.

Sack the Board and Sack Keegan! So what if he can bring in quality
players like Anelka, will they stay when keegans spent up and done
a disappearing trick like he normally does then we are left in debt
with someone like john gregory in charge!

definately bad news we donn't want to go back to milions in debt or
do a 'leeds' keegan will bleed us dry then when the money stops he
will do one.

its a massive blow to such a massivly rebuilt club, thats what bernstien
has done rebuilt it. it was a big shambles when he arrived and how
hes made us big again
