Fowler
got cold feet about a move from Leeds to Man City earlier in the
month. But City boss Kevin Keegan revived the move and eventually
got his man in a deal worth £6m.
From 91Èȱ¬ Sport:
What do you think about the 'on-off-on again'
saga? Has Robbie still got what it takes? Is he the answer to City's
striker problems?
From
selina fox in Widnes
i love robbie Fowler he is great go on the blues
From
Noel in Blackpool Why do we pay these people so much Its only a game of football
, if they are so good why do we always lose at international level?
Prima Donnas if u ask me, but there again no one does!
From
Mike in Warrington He might not score for loads of matches, but if his goal secures
a Euro place, or a stay in the premier, or even an FA Cup odyssey,
he'll be a legend.
From
julie in stockport second rate player signs for third rate team
From
Richard Nosowski in Backwell I was flicking through the newspaper the this sunday, and i noticed
something. I am writing in reply to Rob Evans message, ROB you are
wrong. Be careful what u say Robert, beecause all the other clubs
have changed since the myllennium. NO ROB, manchester united dont
want him.
From
Tim
hes worth the money but no offence blue does not suit him.
From
Rob Evans, Backwell
He should of gone to the red side for success not the blue side. He
is worth the money since if UTD put a bid in they would of had to
of spent about 40mil for him but man city only spent £7.
From
James Cunningham
He should never of left leeds. i will never forgive him. I can't believe
peter Ridsdale let him go. He was a bargin in my view since my club
leeds spent more for him. He has a great strike rate in front of goal
to and will be the ideal partner for Anelka. He might just help them
grab a uefa cup spot.
From
Peter
Robbie Fowler is worth the money
From
mike highland, manchester
fowler is one of the most natural goalscoresrs in english football,
and i think that he and anelka will become one of the most feared
partnerships in the premiership, once they have had time to adapt
to each others style of play.
From
Yong, Nonthaburi
He's really nice person. Man city'll really happy having him around
even though his first game for them is not so good.
From
Eqmonn in Stockport
I was disappointed when Fowler initially turned the move down, so
naturally I'm pleased he's change d his mind. Obviously Leeds weren't
going to want him (he stayed on the bench after the original deal
fell through). Fully-fit, he's good enough to play for ANYONE in the
Premiership, so here's hoping he's well and raedy to go. If so, he'll
be a terrific signing for the Blues.
From
keith in stockport
i'm happy to wait and let his boots do the talking, he's a pro footballer
getting the best deal he can for himself, if the goals flow he'll
be a bargain and a hero if they don't i'm sure he'll sell for a profit
- good business
From
Stephen Burt in Singapore
The Chairman is a shroud businessman a welcome change from 20 Yrs
of Mr. Swales. I think he will be OK Mr. Keegan has the motivation
skills to make him the new F.H.Lee
From
Peter Stevenson in Manchester
My guess is Keegan can get the best out of Fowler just as he is doing
with Anelka. Can they work together as players? The jury is out, however
both will sell easily enough if they don't as both are talented individuals.
From
Scott Perez in Salford average player joins average team. City will always be miles behind
UTD. Id love it if he was to get a major injury. Waste of money.
From
Pauline, Walford
You lot leave him alone. He's a very nice young man!
From
colin
Robbie could turn out to be the best bargain of all time, nobody can
question his scoring record. Anelka and Fowler read and weep all you
rags see you a week on Sunday.
From
Phil Siggers, Preston
If he didn't want to come then, I don't want him now.
From
Yvonne, Stockport
Aren't we missing the point here...this is the guy who didn't want
us a week ago!! I didn't want him then and I certainly dont want him
now...we need another midfield player not another striker!!
From
Chris Gorton, Manchester
When Robbie Fowler first played for Liverpool he was the best stiker
in Britain, not just his goals, his attitude and his workrate. He
lost the plot big style and despite his move to Leeds remains inconsistent
an injury prone. Despite the sinking ship at Leeds he turned his back
on City in recent weeks and reports suggested that he thought the
club was not big enough for him. Can he recapture his golden years?
I don't thinkso, City will be paying big money for an injury prone,
at best, average player.
From
Jon, Cheadle
praise to Mr Bernstein who it appears has been vindicated in his decision
to do the best for Man City financially yet again as Leeds have now
had to bite the bullet and except our terms. A welcome change from
the wasteful days of the past!
From
Johanna Krasij in Manchester
Personally I'm very relieved that Robbie Fowler 'changed his mind'
about signing for City. With Fowler up front with Anelka there would
be no first team action for Sean Goater. Keegan would be a fool to
sell Goater as he's prved his loyalty and skill time and time again.
OFF
- The posts below were submitted when the move collapsed
From
Michael walne, Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire No footballer is worht their pay re Robbie Fowler. At least Gaelic
fooball in Eire is all played for charity, less expenses and what
a Game that is!
From
Jeff in Windsor, Canada Fowler
is no loss at all for city. He's past his best.If he was up to par
why would Leeds take a 3 million loss? There's plenty of younger cheaper
players around.7 million for Fowler is a joke, he's not worth half
that.
From Mark Weir in Dublin as
a leeds fan i am absolutely delighted that robbie fowler is not going!
at last one leeds player show a bit of loyalty. we got robbie for
11million which was a snip. the man has a record of more than one
goal every other game with us. if a quality player like that would
want to play with dunne, distin, howey and hickerby every week i'd
be very surprised!
From Anon
He's not signing anyway as he thinks he's too good for City. The man
is braindead so it's no loss
ON
- The posts below were submitted while the transfer still looked likely
From
Andy Paton in Harpenden
Anybody who knows their football will tell you that Robbie Fowler
is Englands most natural goalscorer. Keegan is no transfer mug, in
footballing terms he has got a bargain. Keegan is a footballing genius,
Fowler makes us top 5. What a refreshing change this is to the grim
lives of other clubs at the moment. Keegan is our King.
From
Nige in Royton
OF COURSE HE'S WORTH 7.5 MILLION - He's only 27 yrs old. Class is
permanent form is temporary !!!
From
Jeff in Stockport
Iam very excited at the prospect of having one the worlds greatest
football players at the home of English football..
From
sharron in
Rotterdam, Holland
Sorry but NO footballer anywhere is worth so much!!!!! I like football
but it's stupid the amount of money they get!! What about medical
people what save peoples lives or pilots???? What they do is true
talent!!!
From
denis, Manchester
robbie fowler has the underlying talent to be one of the best strikers
in the world. hopefully his partnership with anelka with prosper with
both players being able to make up for the others downsides. keegan
has the know-how and motivating talents to be able to tame fowler
and get the best from him. with creativity coming from the park through
benarbia, berkovic, wright-phillips and belmadi fowler will have the
chances that any predator of his ability will devour!!
From
BEVERLEY, Coventry
I THINK IT IS DIGRACEFUL. I THINK FOOTBALLERS IN GENERAL ARE PAID
FAR TOO MUCH. WE HAVE MORE IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY WHO DESERVE
A FAR BETTER WAGE. ie FIREMEN!
From
Tom Flannelly in Manchester I look forward to Robbie joining the Maine men...just hope his
lifestyle will take a back seat to his football.
From
darren beesley, manchester
when fit fowler is superb and would fit into keegans style of play
with ease.£7m a bargain.
From
edwin partridge, Manchester
Fowler and Anelka sounds almost as exciting as Bell, Lee and Summerbee.
I can't waut to see him in Blue.
From
Edward, Manchester
Fowler is definately still worth 'top money'. His best spell as a
player was under Roy Evans, who was an attack minded manager. I think
that Robbie would be given the kind of service he thrives on at City.
