Description
Activists mobilised public opinion in favour of abolition. They organised petitions, boycotts, mass rallies, public debate, legal injunctions and parliamentary actions. Zachary Macaulay was able to support the abolitionist cause with hard evidence and eyewitness accounts of the cruelty of slavery.
