Viking clothing
Description
A description of the sort of clothes the Vikings wore. They were handmade out of materials available at the time such as, wool, linen, leather and silk. Clothes had to be practical to keep people warm and dry, and to enable them to do their work. Wealthy Vikings wore fine clothes and expensive jewellery to show how rich and powerful they were.
Classroom Ideas
Students could research Viking clothing by exploring the differences in what rich and poor Vikings wore and what Viking warriors wore. Students could also research Viking jewellery and use this research to create their own life sized Vikings by drawing around a class member on a large piece of paper and then dressing the outline with appropriate Viking clothing.
