History Boys: Act 1 – scenes 7 and 8

  • Mrs Lintott remarks that history is like story-telling, and that it is something that men do naturally. They discuss education. Hector suggests that Mrs Lintott gives them the education while he subverts it.
  • Irwin discusses the origins of the Second World War with the boys. He tells them that knowledge is not enough to get in; they must present it in an original way. Rudge wants to know what he should write down – Irwin tells him that he cannot just write down what the teacher says. Dakin reveals that the Headmaster is after Fiona, and sometimes chases her around the desk.
