Tom Lancashire: It's the opportunity of racing against some of the top athletes in the world and in some of the most beautiful parts of the world. I've been very fortunate to see things that I wouldn't normally have been able to see. It's what I do and I love doing it.
RYG: How would you encourage young people to step up to the challenge and get involved in sport?
TL: When I was younger, I just wanted to try everything. I never dreamt that I would be able to achieve things such as going to the Beijing Olympics in 2008. I always tried different things and got involved as much as I could, and that seemed to open up all these opportunities. I would advise young people to keep as many doors open as possible, you never know what it might bring.
RYG: What sacrifices have you had to make in order to get where you are today?
TL: You've got to treat it as a full time job and I mean 24 hours a day seven days a week. You have to think about everything you do and think about how it affects your performance. This means that you have to cut a lot of things out, but when you want something badly, you've got to make those sacrifices.
