The middle-distance runner talks about how a good team spirit inspires him.

Raise Your Game: How do you stay motivated?

Andy Baddeley: There's a great team spirit here today. There are a lot of young athletes coupled with some experienced athletes who are leading by example, and to be a part of that is a massive inspiration. The team hotel is a good place to be, and knowing you'll have all of these guys yelling for you as you're coming down the home straight makes getting out of bed in the morning easy.

RYG:How does it feel when the team, and the crowd, are shouting and cheering for you?

AB: You can't ask for anything more. There's a big contingent of British fans out there as well. For around 300 people to tough it out in 35 degree heat shows something special, so we go out there and tough it out for them.

RYG: How much training have you been doing recently?

AB: My training has gone up another 10 to 15 percent since last year. I've done close to 100 miles a week throughout the winter. Just more of the same really. It's nothing drastic and nothing spectacular, just plugging away, always going at it and never giving up.

RYG: How much of athletics is about the mind and how much the body?

AB: I think it's more about the mind, because I'm sure a lot of people could do my training, but the question is whether they could do it all winter for a few years, together with all the travelling.

RYG: Young people look at you and wonder 'How does he keep going when the chips are down?' What are you thinking about on the track?

AB: Well if my own motivation isn't enough to be the best that I can possibly be, then my Team Great Britain vest certainly helps. Putting this on is the biggest motivation you can have. The British vest and all of the team behind me, that's what it's about.
