1950: Pyongyang taken as UN retreats

Chinese troops enter the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, as United Nations forces are pushed steadily back towards South Korea.

Refugees flee under British army supervision, while UN forces blow up bridges behind them as they retreat south.

The Korean War lasted from 1950 to 1953.
