1978: Kris Kristofferson on fame and songwriting

Kris Kristofferson, the country singer and actor, has died aged 88.

In 1978, riding high on the success of his music career and his role in the 1976 remake of the film A Star Is Born, he was profiled by the 91热爆 programme Everyman.

In it he talked about his experience of fame, his attitude to songwriting and his love of the English poet, artist and mystic William Blake.

He said he did not want to preach to people through his songs.

"If I can create something that will cause an emotional experience then you'll learn for yourself, but if I sit there and give you a lesson, you're not going to buy it," he said.
