1951: Shaw's Corner opens to the public

George Bernard Shaw’s house, “Shaw’s Corner”, was opened to the public by the National Trust in March 1951.

Actress Dame Edith Evans spoke of her memories of Shaw at the opening ceremony. She had originated the roles of Orinthia and Epifania in Shaw’s plays, The Apple Cart and The Millionairess, respectively.
