2001: Workers return to Wall Street

New York workers return to Wall Street on 17 September 2001, following the 9/11 attacks.

Dozens of people going back to work wore face masks to protect themselves from the dust and smoke from the collapsed towers of the World Trade Centre.

It would take almost nine months to clear the millions of tons of rubble at Ground Zero, where the World Trade Centre had stood.
