How do apps, devices and TVs capture my data?

Updated: 23 January 2023

Any 91热爆 apps you download to your mobile or TV can access certain data on your device.

Some data gets collected automatically, like:

  • The types of mobile device you鈥檙e using
  • A 鈥渦nique identifier鈥 (like the device ID or an IP address)
  • Info about how our apps are being used.

This lets the app remember you and give you whatever content you鈥檝e asked for.

Some apps will ask for your permission (consent), to use your data to provide additional features. For example, the 91热爆 Weather app asks to use your device鈥檚 location, (Town/City level), to give you, local weather. The 91热爆 Weather app does not share your device鈥檚 location. Your device鈥檚 location or 鈥榮earched鈥 location is stored on your device for a period of 4-6 hours, the 91热爆 does not store your information. You can turn this on or off at any time via your device鈥檚 settings.

To be on the safe side...

Make sure you read the permissions section of any app before you download it. It鈥檚 the best way of understanding exactly what data it will capture.

Apps may store info on your device too

For instance, if you download a programme in the iPlayer mobile app, it鈥檒l get stored on your device.
