Middlesbrough 10kYou are in: Tees > People > Middlesbrough 10k > Team 91Èȱ¬ Tees! Team 91Èȱ¬ Tees! We'll be joining in with the pain on the day, as a team from 91Èȱ¬ Tees take part in the Middlesbrough 10k. Meet the 91Èȱ¬ Tees team who will be taking part in the Middlesbrough 10k on Sunday 21st September in Acklam. Alastair BrownleeAlastair is new to our sports team. He commentates on the Boro games Saturdays 2pm - 6pm, and presents the evening sports show, weeknights 6pm - 8pm. He hasn't entered anything like this before so is hoping that the jogging he's put in, and the parmo depravation for the past six weeks along with the enthusiasm of the spectators will help him make it round the full 10k ! Alastair Brownlee He says: "I have known Jim Wattis, the race organiser, for a long time and he has been trying to get me to take part for a number of years. "This time I ran out of excuses and finally he has succeeded. Matthew BarracloughMatthew is the Editor at 91Èȱ¬ Tees and takes running far too seriously. Ben ThomasBen is the Assistant Editor at 91Èȱ¬ Tees, he has recently decided to give up running having done the Great North Run for the past six years. He says about giving up: "What better way to finish than running through Middlesbrough with Ali Brownlee? "I'm hoping to have a laugh and don't care what time I run…" Emma BorthwickEmma is part of the news team at 91Èȱ¬ Tees, and can be heard reading the news on the hour, and every half hour when on shift. She's previously cycled across Brazil for charity, bungee jumped and sky dived. But has never really run any distance.Ìý She says: "I've been worrying about it lately - six miles doesn't seem like a very long way when you say it - but looking at the route on the map it looks like a pretty long way.Ìý "So, I've been training and at the moment I can run for about 45 minutes without stopping … woohoo! I WILL complete the run in less than 1 hour and 10 minutes - I will I will!" Adele RobinsonAdele is also part of the news team at 91Èȱ¬ Tees, and is usually out of the office reporting on stories or reading the news during our programmes. Since applying to run the 10k I've ran for twenty minutes… twice. I thought I was going to be sick on the first run but the second went much better and I definitely think I'm in with a chance of getting the best 91Èȱ¬ Tees time. Who needs training!Ìý I've already ran the Great North Run… erm… 4 years ago! Peter HarrisCurrently working at Look North, you'll recognise Peter from your TV screen. He's a keen runner, and the Middlesbrough 10k will actually be his third 10k. He says: "It's always a good atmosphere on the day with hundreds of people coming out on the streets which makes it worthwhile. "I'm not prepared to train to do a half marathon and 10k is a nice distance without having to get superfit. I run a couple of times a week but this is a bit further than my usual." Are you taking part in the race? Leave your good luck wishes, and 10k camaraderie messages below.last updated: 16/09/2008 at 08:51 Have Your SayYou are in: Tees > People > Middlesbrough 10k > Team 91Èȱ¬ Tees! |
