What is Peaky Blinders Story Explorer?

The 91热爆 is proud and excited to launch the new, third, series of Peaky Blinders. The show is an epic gangster drama set in the lawless streets of 1920s Birmingham featuring a fairly complex weave of storylines and characters.

The Peaky Blinders Story Explorer brings you up to speed, whether you're new to Peaky Blinders or you just can’t remember what happened in the last series.

Where did the idea come from?

Last year we piloted the on Taster. This took a Radio 4 daily drama and let you explore and listen via the storylines and characters. It was fairly successful and we got good feedback from the listeners.

Our next step was to take what we learnt and apply it to a TV drama. And that’s what you see here. We simplified it a bit, designed it for mobiles and used the visuals of TV. We also made sure that the design would work for any other drama.

TV drama seems to be getting more and more complex. So increasingly there are times when you’re watching a series and think “who was that?” or “what just happened?” or you can’t remember what happened in the last series. We thought there was a space to make something to help explore and recap TV drama and solve a real problem for many people.

How was it made?

This is part of our work in R&D on “atomizing” media - chopping up stories into small pieces and then putting these pieces back together again to create new, interesting and useful things.

In this case we’re chopping the TV drama up into storylines, moments and characters and then using these to create a really quick catch-up service. So there’s no particular clever technology, it’s just an idea we’re exploring from different angles including previous pilots on Taster like the and .
