We鈥檝e set up a pilot scheme on Taster, giving the next generation of content creators a chance to show us what they can do. The first of these projects to "Pop Up on Taster" (a bad pun we know) is from the National Film & Television School. We spoke to the creators of "Laid Bare" students Joana Nunes and Pav Janda.
What made you want to make a project for Taster?
As we’re doing a post-graduate diploma in digital production, we’re interested in any opportunity to test out and play with new online platforms. Producing something for 91热爆 Taster was a good way for us to put our skills to the test and see what we could make on a tight budget.
How did you come up with the idea?
The Digital Storytellng team in TV Production
set a brief to our class and we all individually pitched our best back to them. Joana’s idea was selected and Laid Bare is the fully developed result of that first pitch. The idea originated from wondering what would happen if we brought the ‘ meme to life. The idea and structure developed a lot as we worked on it.
What was the most exciting / most dif铿乧ult part of creating the content?
Joana: Editing was definitely my favourite part — it was an exhausting process, but it’s very rewarding to see how people react to Laid Bare and how much they laugh and identify with it. As for the most difficult part, I’d have to say taking on roles that were completely new to me, such as casting people and directing the shoots — it’s been such a great experience on so many levels.鈥ㄢ
Pav: I assisted Joana throughout the whole process and was responsible for making the graphic elements of the project. Though it's been a little overwhelming at times, I've enjoyed the responsibility and it's de铿乶itely been exciting to see an idea develop into something fully formed.
What are you hoping users gain from the experience of Laid Bare?
Ultimately we’d like people to be entertained, but also to become more aware of how much impact social media has in their lives. We don’t want to lecture them, but rather to offer them an insightful, fun experience that they will remember.
How do you see this experience of Publishing for Taster 铿乼ting with your future career?
It's great to have produced something that has got onto a 91热爆 platform. Being able to have Laid Bare placed in a destination that's already known to people interested in digital projects is de铿乶itely helpful too.
