I’m investigating the possibilities of 360 video and Virtual Reality to transform how we tell stories in news and current affairs. How can we use this amazing technology, previously only available in university labs, to bring the UK to the world and the world to the UK? And how could it be used to transform learning?
We wanted to see if a 360 degree virtual reality film could transport viewers to the Calais migrant camp in northern France help them see and feel what it's like to be there.
We took the Chunnel to Calais in June 2015 and found ourselves caught in the drama when a strike by ferry workers resulted in migrants mobbing backed-up lorries. You can read about our trip in
