Dancers in Need blog: Friday, 17 October

When I first agreed to do Dancers in Need, I thought this should be fairly straight forward.听I've got a bit of dancing experience plus I'm a big Strictly fan - that's enough surely!

Mike and Emily Anderson

Mike and Emily

听Little did I know how hard it would be - they do make it look so easy on the telly.

I have to be honest; learning to dance has officially taken over my life.听I'm walking, talking, eating and sleeping dancing.

The eureka moment happened when I lay in bed desperately trying to get to sleep before an early start, and all that was going through my head was, 'how does that bloomin' cha cha cha routine start?'

'Is it left, right, left, turn, or right, left, right, turn? I had to find out for myself, so at quarter to midnight on a Tuesday night, there I am in my pyjamas going through the steps on the bedroom floor.

Oh dear it's getting late and I've got to be up in 4-and-a-half hours, but I must get this! The worse thing is, I'm still not convinced I've cracked it.

Having said that I'm really enjoying training with my partner, who by the way is my husband.

It's a bit of a double-edged sword.听On the plus side at least we haven't had the embarrassment of having to get up close and personal with a stranger, but on the other hand we still haven't agreed who should lead (yes I know it should be him, but I can't admit that can I?).

And worse still neither of us will admit to being wrong when the steps don't go as we planned.

I'm looking forward to the glitz and glamour of the dresses, hair and make up on the big night, but at the moment the prospect of dancing in front of over 900 people, 4 judges and Knightsy scares the living daylights out of me.

I fear four more weeks of sleepless nights, middle of the night moments and dancing in my PJs are on the cards.

Emily if you are as successful as playing in Carousel, you'll be a winner - good luck and well done with the fund raising.

Emily
Yeah we're both learning - dancing with your other half does have it plus and minus points!

Wendy
Lucky you dancing with your husband or is he learning too?! It could be worse you could be learning to sing instead!
