Lydia has been celebrating the 2008 Chinese New Year in style with a musical performance at the New Wolsey theatre. The idea first came to her when she was in the kitchens of the Fortune Cookie Chinese takeaway on Norwich Road in Ipswich. It led to her drumming up support from local children and their parents and they formed an orchestra to welcome in the Year Of The Rat. The ICR Drum Ensemble is performing at Ipswich Town Hall on Saturday 3 May with three shows at 1155, 1255 and 1355. It coincides with an exhibition called Dragons, Silks and Stories at the Town Hall gallery 3. Meanwhile, on Sunday 4 May there's a Chinese Tea Party at Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich 1000-1700. It's followed by a "Design the Emperor's New Clothes" activity day for the over-sixes Monday 26 May-Sunday 1 June.
