There ends the EFL football for this Saturday!

And a record-equalling one, too as Stockport equalled a fourth tier record for most consecutive wins - 12- with their 2-0 success over Colchester.

Wrexham were upset at Accrington, Mansfield remain unbeaten and Notts County and Bradford entertained us royally at lunchtime.

Most sides had an afternoon off in League One, but Stevenage and Blackpool made the most of it with home wins.

Thanks for joining us for this inaugural L1/L2 text commentary.

We're back in seven days when all 48 clubs are playing. That should be bumper!

Another highly satisfying afternoon for Stockport as the League Two pacesetters extend their lead at the top to six points thanks to a comfortable 2-0 win over Colchester.

It's their 12th in a row - who can stop them?

Mansfield fans will also enjoy their Saturday nights as a fifth win in a row propels them into the automatic promotion places.

Notts County also end the day in the top three after their lunchtime win over Bradford.

A rare defeat for Wrexham drops them out of the top three into fourth place, but their conquerors move into the play-off spots.

At the bottom, basement side Sutton picked up a draw with fellow strugglers Tranmere and remain two points from safety.

The other basement battle also ended in stalemate as Forest Green came back from 2-0 down at Grimsby.

Results that will please none of the bottom four.

The good news for them is that no-one in the bottom half managed a win today.

Only Shrewsbury played in the bottom half of League One, and it was not a good day with their 4-0 thumping at Blackpool.

They remain 16th, but every club below them has games in hand. Nervy times for Salop.

Top half of League One table

With only two games taking place, the table has not changed too much, but it looks great from a Stevenage perspective.

Jamie Reid's goal has them up two places to fourth, with plenty of big teams below them in the battle for the top-six.

Blackpool have stayed where they are in eighth, but are level with both Barnsley and Derby on points as the Seasiders look to get in the mix.

  6. Three, four, fivepublished at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Stevenage 1-0 Lincoln

THREE - points for Stevenage thanks to Jamie Reid's goal.

FOUR - only Portsmouth, Oxford and Bolton are above the Boro.

FIVE - the number of yellow cards for manager Steve Evans this season. The first manager to reach that landmark, but probably not something to brag about!

    • Grimsby have still not won away from home this season but came back from 2-0 down to take a point from Forest Green Rovers thanks to Donovan Wilson's equaliser. Still four points separates these two in the bottom four.
    • Little change at the foot of the table as Tranmere could only draw 1-1 at bottom-placed Sutton United.
    • Matt Smith's 14th of the season was not enough as Salford gave new Gills head coach, Stephen Clemence, his first three points in a 3-1 home win.
    • Jake Young's fourth goal in four matches earned Swindon a point at Harrogate and they had a late goal disallowed.
    • Holker Street saw a goal 33 seconds into the second half after a goalless first 45 minutes. Barrow's Dom Telford, against his former club Crawley, from close range was enough for the three points.

    Accrington 2-0 Wrexham

    Dan Jewell

Wrexham are a brilliant club, but today they've been beaten by the better side.

If Accrington Stanley wanted a catalyst for reaching the play-offs...this could be it.

    Blackpool 4-0 Shrewsbury

Blackpool's biggest win since March as they move level on points with Barnsley in sixth.

It was never in doubt from the moment Jordan Rhodes stroked them in front from the penalty spot after 19 minutes.

Four points out of 27 and just two goals on the road. Shrewsbury's away form is a real concern.

  11. MISSED PENALTYpublished at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

That sums up Wrexham's unhappy second half.

Paul Mullin smacks it powerfully, but it hits the bar.

Until then they didn't look likely to score.

Also, Macauley Southam-Hales was great down the wing.

Well-timed goals either side of the break proved enough for a sixth straight home win as Matt Etherington's first match as permanent Colchester boss ends in defeat.
