United midfielder Nemanja Matic: "It wasn't as easy as it looked. Granada did well. They had an excellent game, played very good football and caused us problems, but we scored two good goals ourselves and are happy to be through."

Edinson Cavani has 12 goals in his last 11 starts in the Europa League.

He is the oldest Man Utd player to score in a knockout game in European competition since Zlatan Ibrahimovic vs St Etienne in February 2017.

Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba to BT Sport: "Some tackles, a yellow card. I had to come off obviously.

"The yellow card was unfortunate. It wasn't a yellow card for me but you have to accept it. We won the game, that's the most important thing.

"I know the foul just after it, I saw all the players trying to get me out. [The manager thought] It's better I come off before red card."

On his assist for Edinson Cavani's goal: "I made the run and I knew he was behind me. The way the ball went to him was perfect. A beautiful goal."

Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to BT Sport: "Granada do give you a game. It's a physical game, they throw people forward. You have to defend in these kind of games.

"2-0, clean sheet, some good individual performances. We're full of confidence going into Sunday [against Burnley]."

On bringing Paul Pogba off at half-time: "Sometimes, Paul wants to win so much... he went into a couple of tackles after his yellow card but I thought I don't want to risk that [him being sent off] even though he played so well. We missed three today [through suspension]. The season has been hard enough as it is."

On playing Roma in the semis: "I've not seen too much of them. I knew they played two good games against Roma. They defend well, as Italian teams always do. We all know Edin Dzeko so every ball into the box is a dangerous one.

"We are looking forward to it. We're in the semis. It feels like a proper European tie because Roma is a club with lots of history. We've done well against Italian sides before.

"We're going into it hoping to get to the final. If we can finish the season with a trophy that'd be great."

Will Marcus Rashford be fit this weekend? "We hope he's going to be ready. Today was about not risking him. He was on the bench just in case because you never know in a knockout tie. He's been playing with a sore foot. I don't know yet."

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to BT Sport: "We started really well in a convincing way, aggressive in our high press. We looked a threat all the time. I really like the reaction of the team to the goal being disallowed. We scored some great goals, The clean sheet is important as well, the second one in two games.

"It helped the way we played against Sheffield United. The players were in high confidence, when performances are so high the collective improves. The boys were really at it from the start.

"It is a really important win in a crucial moment. We won in a convincing way, so credit to the players.

"There is still a lot to do and things we can improve on, but we have a real desire to improve and be better every day. It will be really tough and Unai Emery is probably the most successful manager in this competition."

Since losing their first two home games in the Europa League back in the 2011-12 season, Manchester United have not lost any of their last 17 games at Old Trafford in the competition (W13 D4).

Manchester United have reached their 18th semi-final in all European competition (including the Fairs Cup). Only Liverpool (19) have appeared in more amongst English sides.

Nicolas Pepe has been directly involved in nine goals in his 10 starts for Arsenal in the Europa League (4 goals, 5 assists).

Emile Smith Rowe registered his seventh assist in all competitions this season, the joint-most of any Arsenal player in 2020-21 (level with Willian).

Only Radamel Falcao (20) and Kevin Gameiro (19) have scored more Europa League knockout stage goals than Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette (18).

Lacazette has scored 2+ goals in consecutive games in all competitions for the first time for any club since his last three appearances for Lyon in May 2017.

With four goals to his name, Bukayo Saka is now Arsenal’s joint-top teenage scorer in major European competition, level with Charlie George and Ray Kennedy.

Arsenal have reached the semi-finals of European competition for the 10th time (including Fairs Cup), with the Gunners getting to the last four in three of their four Europa League campaigns.

They have scored 3+ goals in four consecutive away games in all competitions for the first time since December 1932 (five games).

The Gunners kept a clean sheet in a European game for the first time in eight games, since a 3-0 away win over Molde in the Europa League in November 2020.

Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes to BT Sport: "It was a good game. The Europa League is always difficult to play. It doesn't matter who you play against.

"We know Granada have quality - they can create something.

"We did well. We controlled the game and had a lot of the ball. We kept the ball moving. The result shows that.

"Now is the time for the next step and win a semi-final. [Before then] it's time to focus on the league.

"He [Edinson Cavani] is a proper striker, a proper number nine."

On facing Roma in the semis: "Every team will give you problems. They have a good organisation defensively, they can create probelms offensively. Some of their players have played in England. We know what we have to do. If we do the right things, we will have our chances to win the game."

Arsenal

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, speaking to BT Sport: "It was fantastic from start to finish. We did it for all the fans, they all deserve it for all the support they give us. We are really happy to progress.

"We showed real character. The first one was disallowed, Emile deserved a goal, we kept going and got the first one again. We pretty much killed the game in the first half.

"In the first leg we played well but weren't clinical, credit to the manager and coaching staff, the way we set up, pressed, they couldn't get out.

"It shows everyone how exciting we can be, when we play like this it is so amazing to be involved in. We have a chance of going to the final and winning this competition, it is up to us. We look forward to the next opponent."

Manchester United have won three consecutive knockout stage games without conceding in major European competition for the first time since April 2008.

All four European semi-finals this season have an English team in it.

It's Real Madrid v Chelsea and PSG v Man City in the Champions League, and Arsenal v Villarreal and Man Utd v Roma in the Europa.

We could have two all-English finals.

No-one really fancied Arsenal tonight and they were up against it after the late goal last week but it was just pure energy and belief. They wanted to get the result and kept the tempo up. Slavia Prague didn't know what had hit him. Arsenal were far too good.

Up next for the Gunners... a meeting with former boss Unai Emery, whose Villarreal side have knocked out Dinamo Zagreb 3-1 on aggregate.

Spanish sides are winless in their last six away games against English teams (D3 L3), failing to score in each of the last five.

It's Manchester United v Roma in the Europa League semi-final.

The final whistle has just gone in the Italian capital and Roma have beaten Ajax 3-2 on aggregate (1-1 on the night).
