England have reached 220-2 in their second innings and trail Australia by 58 runs.

I still think you'd rather be in Australia's changing room at the moment, but if you have a good session - and only lose one wicket in the first session for example - you'd rather be in England's changing room.

As soon as England are in the lead there will be doubts in the Australians' minds and they might start to crack with doubts over Josh Hazlewood and pressure building on Pat Cummins.

Australia are still heavy favourites because two wickets, while you're still behind, would change it quite quickly.

England have quite a long tail, but once they get into the red Australia will have to start thinking about boundary riders and how many runs they chase and runs become easier to find too.

England will resume their second innings on 220-2 when day four starts at 23:30 GMT on Friday night.

They currently trail Australia by 58 runs and will be looking to wipe out that deficit as soon as possible.

Australia will have a new ball after 10 overs - roughly 40 minutes - and that will likely be crucial in deciding the outcome of this game.

Dawid Malan has said England still need another "250-300 runs" to stand any chance of winning of this Test.

We saw that Alex was asking about the start time on Twitter last night, so to be safe and so you all know what's what here are the session times for day four. We're still making up time that we lost on day one because of the rain - that is why we're starting earlier.

• Third session: 05:00-07:00 GMT (play can continue until 07:30 GMT)

I was really impressed with the way that Dawid Malan played Nathan Lyon because he is a really difficult bowler for left handers to face.

There was a lot of pressure on Joe Root when he came out.

The rotation of strike between him and Dawid Malan was first class. Any width or bad balls they looked to put away.

Finally from Dawid Malan: "I thought I'd never play another Test again. I actually said to Rooty, when we were both on 40-50 and the Barmy Army were singing that 'I've really missed this'. I've missed someone trying to blow my head off all the time, and the crowd going and the adrenaline pumping."

More from Dawid Malan: "It was vitally important that we showed we can compete. The first innings was a disappointment. We hold our hands up that we weren't good enough in that innings - whether the wicket did a little bit or not we are better than being bowled out for 140. For us to come in after a day and a half of hard fielding and do what we did was fantastic but that is only half the job done. We need another 250-300 runs tomorrow to put ourselves in a good position.

In this game there have been wickets at the start of each session. For whatever reason getting back in has been difficult so Joe Root and Dawid Malan will be crucial in the morning.

If they can do the hard bit and get back in, that is never easy when you are in the 80s, England could be back in it.

More from Dawid Malan: "Joe Root speaks for himself with what he has done in his career. Batting with him is great - he takes the pressure off you because he is always looking to score and he always finds a way to put the pressure back on the bowlers. His method just works everywhere his plays.

"For him to carry on the form has been fantastic and it is a great sign for the team that he is playing well and leading from the front."

Millsy: Well after waking up to that score I think we might win the Ashes lads!

More from Dawid Malan: "Our fast bowlers said if we can drag it out and get their bowlers into their fourth and fifth spells it might be slightly easier. It is never easy playing against these guys because they are fantastic bowlers but because of the lack of game plan the longer we can drag it out it'll play into our hands.

"Test cricket is the pinnacle for me. You can do as well as you want in T20 and ODI cricket but you are judged on your Test cricket when you retire so to come to Australia, after India where it turns a lot, where it bounces a lot more is the Test. The job isn't done yet - making an 80 doesn't mean you've made it. It is the big hundreds that can hopefully change a game."

There is only one after authentic result where a team has been 278 runs or more behind after the first innings then gone on to win. Not including the abandoned Oval Test in 2006 when Pakistan did not return to the field against England.

The only authentic one is Australia against Sri Lanka at Colombo in 1992. Australia were 291 runs behind and went on to win by 16 runs.
