Brian McDermott's Reading side face Walsall at home in the FA Cup fourth round

Reading manager Brian McDermott urged supporters not to get "carried away" after their FA Cup third-round replay victory against Huddersfield.

Reading came from 2-0 down to win 5-2 at the Madejski Stadium with the help of Matej Vydra's hat-trick.

"I think we should all start to enjoy watching our team play," McDermott told 91热爆 Radio Berkshire. "That's what I want to try and do here."

The Royals will face Walsall at home in the fourth round on 30 January.

"In this day and age, people get so carried away with the result, win or lose," McDermott added, who began a second spell as Reading manager last month.

"You don't get carried away with a 5-2 win and you don't get carried away with a 1-0 defeat.

"We're trying to build something and we're trying to start something."

McDermott also praised striker Vydra, who has struggled for goals since joining on season-long loan from Watford.

"I spoke to him in training and told him I know he is working his socks off," McDermott replied. "He's trying everything and wants to do well.

"That's what sport's about sometimes. You have to pick yourselves up off the floor and go again."
