Crawley made it four wins out of five as Simon Walton's late penalty condemned managerless York to defeat.

Midfielder Walton found the bottom corner after Sonny Bradley had been bundled over in the box by Eddie Nolan.

Crawley's Rhys Murphy headed just over early on, while Vadaine Oliver forced goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan to save with his feet at the other end.

Shamir Fenelon brought the best out of York's Scott Flinders with a volley, but Walton's spot-kick sealed the win.

The visitors, who parted company with Russ Wilcox in midweek, have now failed to win for 10 league matches.

Crawley Town boss Mark Yates told 91热爆 Surrey:

"I think it's just rewards for persevering and I thought we were the more likely side to win the game.

"We said before the game about the upheaval they have had with a new manager and they put in a good performance for the ones that have taken over.

"After the first 10 minutes, I felt we were always on the front foot, or trying to be, I'm just glad we got the goal.

"We've had a good month, we've shown a lot of signs of improvement and even when we don't play at our best, we can still grind things out."

York City caretaker manager Richard Cresswell told 91热爆 Radio York:

"The outcome is not what we looked for, but the performance was absolutely fantastic.

"The lads did exactly what we said. We tried to cause them problems in the wide areas and we did that.

"It went down to what I'd say was a dubious decision from the referee which is hard to take.

"The lads put all the effort in and I think we deserved something out of this game today."
