Shola Ameobi: Wolves boss Kenny Jackett abandons his interest

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has revealed that the Championship club have ended their interest in signing former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi.
The 33-year-old Nigeria international, who left St James' Park in May 2014, had been training with Wolves.
He then played the first 68 minutes of Monday's 3-2 defeat for the club's Under-21 side at Swansea.
But Jackett confirmed they would not be pursuing Ameobi after Tuesday's League Cup defeat at Middlesbrough.

Wolves, who missed out on the Championship play-offs on goal difference in May, currently stand 18th, having won just twice in seven games. |
The 3-0 loss left Wolves winless in three games ahead of Saturday's Championship trip to promoted Preston.
Jackett, who has lost midfielder Dave Edwards for "several weeks" with a knee injury, was also without goalkeeper Emi Martinez and defenders Kortney Hause and Scott Golbournein, who was on the bench, in a much-changed line-up at the Riverside.
But skipper Danny Batth is close to a return at centre-half after four months out with a broken foot, which kept him out of last season's final two games.
After playing for an hour against West Bromwich Albion's Under-21s nine days before, Batth played the whole 90 minutes against Swansea.
