Chairman John Fry says Yeovil need to show they can challenge in the top half of the League One table this season.

The Glovers finished bottom of the Championship last term and have made an indifferent start on their return to the third tier.

Gary Johnson's side are currently 19th in the standings, with three wins and three draws from 11 games.

"We have got to go for the challenge," Fry told 91热爆 Somerset before Saturday's defeat by MK Dons.

"It's a bit disappointing because we set the biggest League One budget ever for this football club, coming off the back of the Championship, where we had some money to spread around. We put that into the team.

"It's the manager's objective to get the team in the top half of the league and then push towards the Championship again.

"Gary has picked some good players, he's spent the whole of the pre-season selecting players, but it hasn't yet clicked. But we have got the feeling that the team will start taking off."

Yeovil reached the Championship for the first time in their history last May, beating Brentford in the play-off final at Wembley.

But with the smallest budget in the division, the Somerset club were unable to avoid relegation straight back down to League One.

Johnson rebuilt the squad over the summer but had a public dispute with the board after missing out on loan targets.

But Fry says his relationship with Johnson, who is now in his second spell as manager, is as strong as ever.

"Gary's very demanding but that's his job. We've got that chemistry and sometimes we disagree but it's his team and his choice of players," added Fry.

"We've never fallen out, although one day we probably will do. We get on famously as a pair in business, and making decisions, and long may it continue."
